Klopp: Champions League is over for us. But in three weeks we will have a chance again

Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 5-2 in the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday. Does Liverpool have any chance in the rematch at the Santiago Bernabéu? Jürgen Klopp answered that question in his own way.
There were high expectations before the game. Real Madrid had won five of their last six matches, Liverpool were already eager for a rematch. And at first, it looked like it was finally going to happen.
In the 4th minute Darwin Núñez sent the home side into the lead, ten minutes later Mohamed Salah added a second goal after a huge foul by Thibaut Courtois. Real were on the towel, the players were absolutely not heads in the game and the fans were fearing a debacle.
But as Jürgen Klopp himself said in the press conference, Liverpool have to play two great games to advance, Real don’t have to play well and can still advance. That’s the greatness of a royal club.
And once again, it was proven by Vinicius, who engineered the turnaround. Virtually out of nowhere, when Real were helpless, he got a shot after combining with Benzema and curled it beautifully towards the bar.
He managed to add a second goal before half-time after Alisson’s blunder, and in the second half Liverpool were starting to fall apart like a house of cards. Immediately after the change of sides Militao turned the score around, Benzema added a fourth goal in the 55th minute and the Frenchman enjoyed one more goal after some wonderful action.
“I think Carlo (Ancelotti) thinks the double is over and at the moment I think so too. But in three weeks… That’s how it is in these games, the closer you get to the game, the more our chances increase,” Klopp told a news conference.
“But tonight, with the result 5:2 and when you see the game… They have great counter-attacks, we have to score 3 goals there, so we have to play on the risk, which might not pay off. But I can already say that we will go there with the intention of trying to win the game,” added the German Liverpool coach.
