Carolina took the lead in the first period on a power play goal by DeAngelo. But Tuch tied it for the Sabres in the second period.
The third period brought goals on both sides. Skjei scored first for the Hurricanes, but Dahlin tied the game again a few minutes later.
The game went into overtime and it was an opportunity for Martin Nečas, who loved it. He exchanged the puck with Skjei and Ahem in the offensive third, skated in front of the net where the Finnish forward fed him the puck and Nečas decided the game.
It was his ninth goal in overtime. Only Sebastian Aho (10) has more goals in the Hurricanes organization. Among Czech players, Nečas is tied with David Pastrňák and Milan Hejduk.
The native of Nové Město na Moravě has collected 5 goals and 6 assists in 13 games this season. Of the Czech players, only Pastrňák (17) and Hronek (13) have more points.
Only Jesperi Kotkaniemi has more points for the Hurricanes. Behind Nečas are Jarvis, Aho and Skjei with 10 points.
Radim Zohorna is also playing in good form. He scored the winning goal in the game against Anaheim and with three goals is a bit unexpectedly the fourth best Czech goal scorer of this NHL season.
