Khamzat Chimaev vs. Nate Diaz? Until recently a dream match that didn’t make much sense, but early Sunday morning it will become a reality. A great prospect and talent against a recognized legend. What to expect from the fight?
Coming up this weekend, UFC 279. The main event features rising sensation Khamzat Chimaev and the legendary Nate Diaz. Chimaev has a clear goal of becoming champion. Diaz, for his part, intends to stop the rise of another star.
Although the American has lost his last two fights, he was stopped by a doctor in one of them and was beaten by current Welterweight champion Leon Edwards in the other. The undefeated Swede has 11 wins for a change, but his last fight with Gilbert Burns proved that he still has some work to do.
In particular, there were huge gaps in his stance, which Diaz could take advantage of. He does know how to hit. And what is not great news for Chimaev is the fact that the American is by no means futile on the ground.
In wrestling, Chimaev will probably have the upper hand, but in terms of submissions, Diaz will be better off for a change. His BJJ is legendary.
To make matters worse, the Swede will be under pressure. He’s not a loser, he wants a title shot and he struggled in his last fight. The American has nothing to lose, on the contrary. He’s picked up losses, he’s not looking for a title, and he’s looking to give the UFC problems. And he could do just that by beating Chimaev.
And what to bet on? If you want to take a risk or bet a smaller amount, definitely bet on Diaz to win. While it may not be the most likely option, it’s not unrealistic either, and the potential payout would definitely please.
Otherwise, though, it’s worth betting on the wheels. There is an attractive odds of 1.50 for the fight to reach the second round. And we will definitely see at least the second round.
