It was and still is only a matter of time. Losene Keita is the great discovery of the Octagon, a similarly talented fighter is unlikely to be retained for long. According to his words, he’s already on the UFC’s radar, and he’d like to fight at the Paris tournament himself.

Losene Keita is the new Oktagon lightweight champion. He defeated the legendary Ivan Buchinger in the first round in the title fight at OKTAGON 33 in Frankfurt. After the fight, he was ecstatic that he was able to beat the Slovak even faster than Conor McGregor once did.

He admitted right after the fight that he would also like to fight for the title in the lower weight class, where among others Buchinger holds the belt, but he is injured and it is not sure if he could defend it.

But another pleasantry may jump into the whole plan. For in an interview with journalist James Lynch, Keita admitted that he is on the radar of the UFC, the best organization in the world. However, he didn’t want to be specific, or couldn’t, so it’s possible that negotiations are already underway.

The 24-year-old Octagon champion himself admitted that he would like to fight at the UFC event in Paris. That will take place in September, so it’s possible that he might not add a single fight in the biggest Czechoslovakian organization. “Fighting in Paris would be a dream come true,” he let it be known.

The lightweight division in the UFC is full of big names. Whether it’s Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier, Islam Makhachev, Michael Chandler or Tony Ferguson. This is one of the most loaded divisions.

Keita, however, has big ambitions: “I don’t want to go into the UFC and take turns winning and losing. I want to be a champion. I train hard for that. I’ll fight anybody. I’ve never turned down any opponent.”

And if he could choose the name of his opponent? He didn’t pick for too long. He mentioned Paddy Pimblett, an English star who has become very popular, although he is far from the top so far. But this is a former Cage Warriors champion. Keita, however, believes he could beat him.
