Karim Benzema is simply good against English teams. His stats from the last two seasons show how much he relishes defending British clubs. Even in yesterday’s quarter-final match against Chelsea, he managed to overcome the London defensive team and signed his club’s victory.
In the autumn part of the season he was troubled by numerous injuries, which even made him miss the World Cup in Qatar.
Now, Karim Benzema is already showing his scintillating form once again and was carried away by Chelsea London in the first quarter-final of the Champions League.
Benzema opened the scoring as early as the 22nd minute when he finished a ball cleared by Kepa Arrizabalaga. It was his fourth goal in this year’s Champions League and his fourteenth overall in a season in which he has played eighteen games.
Thanks to his goal, Real defeated Chelsea 2-0 and secured a solid lead for the return leg. Benzema thus once again proved his incredible scoring form when facing the English big clubs.
His last 11 goals in the Champions League have all come against British teams.
While last season he knocked out Chelsea with four goals in the quarter-finals and Manchester City with three goals in the semi-finals, this season he executed Liverpool with three goals in the eighth-finals and, as we mentioned, added a goal in Chelsea’s net in yesterday’s match.
He is following up on a great performance in the millionaire competition. He has scored an incredible 14 goals in the last nine matches of the Champions League knockout stage, dragging his team to defend the title of King of Europe once again.
