Pavel Kadeřábek only came on in the 60th minute in Friday’s pre-game against Bremen. He didn’t get involved in his team’s offensive actions, but he did his job at the back.
He only watched as Bremen decided the game from a penalty in the 87th minute. Kadeřábek’s position is not entirely secure under coach Breitenreiter. He’s more likely to come off the bench.
On the other side, Bremen goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka could have celebrated the win. He couldn’t have scored the goal, Dabbur went in alone. He made some important saves against Baumgartner and a Skov centre that may have been headed just in front of him by Prömel.
Bremen have not lost away yet and have climbed up the table to the European Cup places. Pavlenka is the unshakable number one. He has scored 13 goals in nine starts so far.
In Leverkusen’s match against Schalke, which was also the debut for new Bayer coach Xabi Alonso, three Czechs started. Patrik Schick did not feature again, but contributed to a clear 4-0 win with a good performance.
Schick played 72 minutes and was replaced by Adam Hložek. He also did not make a difference, although he got two shooting opportunities. On the other side, Alex Král came on in the 64th minute and did not make a significant impact.
Tomas Koubek was in goal for the first time in the Bundesliga since 27 June 2020, more than two years later. It has to be said that he did very well. He scored from his first shot, but Gerhardt finished into an empty net.
On the other hand, in the second half he saved several good chances for Wolfsburg players. It is not yet certain when goalkeeper number one Gikiewicz will be back and therefore it is possible that Koubek will be in goal again next week.
Vladimir Darida sat out the entire game on the Hertha bench. His team drew with Freiburg 2:2. Berlin coach Sandro Schwarz doesn’t trust the Czech player too much. Darida has made only three appearances so far.
