Juventus made up the two-goal deficit to Cagliari, but it was not enough to win after the 2:2 result

Football was played on Friday too, Juventus travelled to Cagliari and got a point. They were down by two goals in the match, but eventually pulled away and drew 2-2. The point is more valuable for the home team, but they must regret the loss, as they could have taken an important step towards salvation.

Cagliari was a clear candidate for relegation, but recently they have shown their strength and have come into form. After a run of four consecutive defeats, they scored two draws, won twice and then fell to Monza.

The draw with Verona was valuable, the home win over Atalanta even more so, and the draw at Inter, which was really surprising. Juventus, on the other hand, are fighting more for the Champions League and no one doubts too much that they will reach it.

It won’t be for the title this time either, the loss is abysmal and even a win over Cagliari wouldn’t change that. The home side were more motivated.

They had a chance in the second minute, but Luvumbo just missed the target from distance. After less than half an hour of play, things were looking better for Cagliari, Bremer made a handball and the referee, after consulting the video, awarded a penalty kick.

Gaetano stepped up and converted it without difficulty. Luvumbo then narrowly missed from a volley, but it didn’t take long for the home side to get a second penalty kick, this time after a foul by goalkeeper Szczesny.

This time, Mina was given the chance and he made no mistake, giving Cagliari a 2: 0 lead. At the end of the first half, Vlahovic’s goal was disallowed for offside. So it was off to the booths and Juventus had to work hard.

Cagliari tried to increase their lead, but Prati couldn’t get a good shot on target. And so Vlahovic, who scored from a direct kick, was punished and the referee had no way to call off the goal.

The second half didn’t offer many chances and just when it seemed that Cagliari would get the important three points, they equalised after an own goal by Dossen. Both teams shared the points.
