Joselu leaves Real Madrid! There’s no room for him in the squad
Joselu will be moving on after a great season at Real Madrid, where he filled the role of understudy to the star Brazilian. There is no room for the Spanish striker in Madrid’s packed squad. The guest appearance will not turn into a permanent transfer.
Joselu will be moving on after a great season at Real Madrid, where he filled the role of understudy to the star Brazilian. There is no room for the Spanish striker in Madrid’s packed squad. The guest appearance will not turn into a permanent transfer. In the following season, Carlo Ancelotti’s squad will be reinforced by 2 more offensive weapons, making the Spaniard a mandatory embrace.
Joselu was better than expected
When the Spanish striker arrived at Real, most fans were knocking their heads wondering if President Fiorentino Perez had lost his mind. The fee for a one-year loan was 500,000 euros. Typically, he is a completely different striker than what is and was available throughout the squad, so at least in that respect the transfer made sense.
In the whole season Joselu played 49 games, in which he very often jumped in as a substitute. In 2097 minutes played he scored 17 goals and added 3 assists.
Some of the goals were even important as they were equalising or leading goals. No Real fan will forget the 2 late goals against Bayern that sent the White Ballet into the final.
Real Madrid’s attack for next season is packed
Why is Joselu changing his destination anyway when it looked like Real would exercise the €1 million option? The explanation is simple, the Spanish striker would have been option number 4, maybe 5 or even more. Madrid’s squad in the attacking positions will be oversupplied and all the players, with all due respect, are far better than just the Spaniard.
The White Ballet will be strengthened by Kylian Mbappé, who arrives as a free agent from French side PSG. Furthermore, the promising starlet Endrick will be competing for a place in the starting line-up. Not forgetting Vinicius and Rodryg, who have been a solid part of Real for several seasons now. That’s already 4 very quality players up front.
Jude Bellingham can start at striker. With the formation on the wings, Arda Guler and Brahim Díaz will push for one of the positions. It would probably be an inhuman task for Josel to even get on the pitch, let alone in the starting lineup. Although the Spaniard has been putting in great performances, he is the one who has paid the price for a loaded attack.
Not Arabia, but Qatar
There has been speculation about the possibility of a transfer to Saudi Arabia, where a number of European footballers moved to last summer in particular. However, Joselu has chosen another destination that is similar in financial means, with Qatar’s Al Gharafa being his new destination. The Qatari club finished 3rd in their competition and will attack the title with the Spaniard.
The Al Gharafa jersey will be worn by former Porto offensive star Algerian Yacine Brahimi, who is in his 2nd season at the club. Former Barcelona player Philippe Coutinho and Marco Verratti also play in the local league. German midfielder Julian Draxler has also appeared in a few games, so the competition is packed for names.
