Will Jorge Masvidal reignite his former glory at UFC 287?
Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal will attempt to rekindle the last flame of his former glory as a professional MMA fighter this weekend. The holder of the title of the biggest badass on the planet will face Gilbert Burns in the main pre-fight of the card at UFC 287 in Miami.
Both men are former title challengers, but both fell to former ruler of the velt Kamar Usman. The tenacious Brazilian is still not giving up on a title shot at 36 years old and is looking to fight his way back to the top of the division from fifth place via Masvidal.
Masvidal is the one who has dropped out of the top ten weight class after three straight losses and at 38 years old, title prospects are already remote after all. But the American PPV broadcast star isn’t giving up and has begun his latest title run.
“This could be the last fight,” Masvidal backed up speculation of a possible end on an episode of UFC Countdown on the UFC’s YouTube channel. “If I lose, it’s over. But I’m in the best shape right now, both physically and mentally. ”
“I’ll start my resurrection here in Miami. In the city that birthed me, that shaped me, that molded me. I’m going to give it my all and if I win, I’ll roll the dice until I win the belt,” he recalled of his beginnings.
The gala will take place in Miami, where he got his start in street fighting alongside Kimbo Slice
In those fights, he fought alongside his mentor Kimbo Slice, who used to organize brawls on the streets of Miami. The bare-knuckle street fights certainly laid the groundwork for Masvidal’s success in the biggest MMA league in the world, where he stepped in the footsteps of his mentor Kimbo.
Since then, he has earned the nickname “Street Jesus,” which he earned not only for his street brawls, which earned him a then-ridiculous $43, but also for his looks.
He now owns his own organization, Gamebred Fighting Championship, which features former UFC veterans. Will he ignite a spark of his former glory in the early hours of Sunday?
