The NBA Finals came to an end when the Denver Nuggets defeated the Miami Heat 4-1 in the NBA Finals. The team around Nikola Jokic performed amazingly throughout the league and deservedly won the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy for the first time in history.
After the first two games played in Denver, the series moved to Miami with a 1-1 tie, but the Heat couldn’t follow up the win on their opponent’s floor. The Nuggets won twice on the road to take a 3:1 lead.
They could have completed the fantastic campaign on their own court, but the Heat players were of course against them. The visitors started the game much more actively and held the lead for a long time. After the first half, Miami led by seven points.
Denver, however, did not give up, during the third quarter they pulled the opponent’s lead down to a single point. In the last part, the Nuggets managed to turn the game around and won 94:89.
Nikola Jokic was again the player of the game, scoring 28 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists.
Jokic was named Finals MVP and dominated the entire playoffs
In addition to the team trophy for the overall NBA championship, Nikola Jokic also received the MVP trophy. He was named MVP of the entire Finals.
He had no competition in the entire playoffs this year. He scored the most points (600), had the most rebounds (269) and collected the most assists (190).
“It’s good. The job is done, we can go home,” he briefly assessed his and his team’s performance after the win over Miami in the NBA Finals.
