June’s UFC 275 went down in Czech MMA history primarily with UFC welterweight champion Jiri Prochazka winning the title. However, the world was shocked by the women’s strawweight title fight at the aforementioned tournament.
In it, legendary Polish fighter Joanna Jedrzejczyk appeared in her last UFC title quest after two years. Her opponent was another former champion, Chinese fighter Weili Zhang.
The two rivals already met two years ago, when they took care of one of the most terrifying women’s fights of all time. The Pole received a freak head injury during the fight and the sight of her forehead was certainly not appealing.
Even their second mutual duel at the aforementioned UFC 275 was won by the Chinese fighter and Jedrzejczyk put her gloves on the Octagon floor after the fight. This meant only one thing – the legend of women’s sport ended her rich career.
Then, over the weekend, the Polish beauty was a guest at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi, where, of course, as a former huge UFC star, she gave out interviews to the media. In one of them, she admitted that she definitely doesn’t feel like a fish out of water in her fighting retirement.
“I feel so young and I feel like I could fight because the last camp was the best camp of my life,” Jedrzejczyk, who turned just 35 in August, told MMA Junkie.
“It’s hard, I wanted to be a UFC champion one more time, not a Hall of Fame member, an old lady in retirement, ” she confirmed that she’s rather uncomfortable in fighting retirement. “I don’t think I’m ready to be a grandmother,” said the Polish beauty.
The truth is that Jedrzejczyk still keeps herself in amazing physical shape and she certainly doesn’t resemble an “old lady”. The photos on her social media certainly confirm the above thesis, what do you think?
