The UFC 295 tournament was supposed to be a blast. The main event was to be headlined by two legends in Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. Unfortunately, this fight will not happen due to an injury of the P4P number one legend. So gala has new headliners!
The UFC organization promised a proper highlight of the UFC 295 gala. We were supposed to see Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic. But now there’s some bad news.
Jones was injured in training and has to undergo surgery, which means we won’t see him in the cage for eight months. President Dana White also commented on the situation on social media.
“Here we go again. Jon Jones practiced yesterday and got hurt tonight. While wrestling he tore the tendon that connects the pectoral muscle to the bone. Hewill be out for eight months and must have surgery,” White wrote.
Instead of this match, we will see a fight between Sergey Pavlovich and Tom Aspinall for the interim title. Pavlovich was an alternate and it’s an unanswered question as to why he won’t split it with Miocic.
There is one piece of more positive news though. Jiri Prochazka, who has a title fight with Alex Pereira lined up after returning from injury, will be in the tournament.
And this fight has now become the main event. No one will deny the Czech fighter the success of starting as the main face of the tournament in the famous Madison Square Garden.
The UFC 295 tournament in New York takes place on November 11. The main card will take place at 4 a.m. in our time zone on Sunday, November 12.
