Jesse Lingard has attempted to resurrect his career in Manchester United colours after a successful season in the West Ham midfield ranks. Now out of contract, he will be performing his services for the Premier League newcomer.

Jesse Lingard was considered to be a very talented player. The Red Devils ward has been playing in England’s second highest league since he was 19 years old. He went through several teams as a guest player. Leicester, Birmingham, Brighton, Derby and West Ham.

He also made a name for himself at Manchester United. After the 2019/2020 season, United management decided that he was stagnating here and needed a new challenge. So they sent him on loan to West Ham London.

At the club of the Hammers, Lingard came to life again. He managed to score 9 goals in 16 games there. From the position of an offensive central midfielder, he became a key player. At the age of 28, he proved that he can still fulfil his potential.

At the end of a successful season, West Ham tried to snap him up on a transfer, but the clubs couldn’t reach an agreement and that meant a return to the red part of Manchester for the player.

He stagnated again in the upcoming season in Manchester. This resulted in his contract not being renewed. This was seized upon by Premier League newcomer Nottingham Forest, who offered him a contract.

Will Lingard be the main driving force behind the English newcomer’s quest for salvation, or will we only see another stagnant season? We can look forward to it all with the kick-off of the first round on August 6 at 16:00, when the rich Newcastle host Nottingham Forest in the very first game.
