Jesse Lingard back at West Ham? Depends on how he performs at Manchester United

Lingard was one of West Ham’s mainstays in the spring, but his loan spell ended and he had to return to Manchester United. Bruno Fernandes, who is currently in his position at the Red Devils, is not a threat. How much is the Manchester club asking for their player?
Jesse Lingard returns to his parent club Manchester United after an extremely successful loan spell at West Ham. He has a great record with the Hammers, having managed to record 9 goals and 4 assists in the league in six months.
He has already played three preliminary matches with Manchester United, in which he managed to score once. However, due to a positive test for Covid-19, he was unable to play in the first game of the season against Leeds.
Now, the 28-year-old offensive midfielder is already in full training and even made his presence felt in the game against Burnley this Tuesday behind closed doors.
Lingard is expecting to be given ample opportunities by the Norwegian manager in the upcoming games, otherwise he will demand to leave. Sunday’s game against Southampton will give a clue as to how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is going to use the Englishman.
Playing in Lingard’s favour is the fact that he only has a year left on his contract at Old Trafford. So if United don’t let him go anywhere this summer it is very likely that he will leave for free next summer.
The English vice-champion values his player at £25 million, an amount West Ham are not yet willing to pay. It is expected that the Red Devils will lower their demands towards the end of the transfer period, because they will want to get something out of the player.
However, the scenario that Lingard will be in the starting line-up and sign a new contract with the Manchester club is also realistic.
