Jaroslav Šilhavy after Czech win: we play matches on blood. We are considering calling up one or two players

It’s a great feeling for the Czech national team. A match that, apart from the happy ending, had a well thought out tactic and at the same time was full of emotions. In short, a lot of factors that begin to introduce the “modern” continuation of Jaroslav Šilhavy on the bench of the team.

It’s a great feeling for the Czech national team. A match that, apart from the happy ending, had a well thought out tactic and at the same time was full of emotions. In short, a lot of factors that begin to introduce the “modern” continuation of Jaroslav Šilhavy on the bench of the team.

The post-match press conference showed disappointment from the Swiss side. With their crisp football, the Swiss were unable to change the tempo of the game. Everything was either very clear or the Czech defence showed a sacrificial tackle.

Apart from the excellent defensive performance, the fan favourite shone through. Tomas Vaclik confirmed that fact again and again. No one can deny his place as number one.

“We always have to give a 100% performance at the limit. Today it was the same as at the European Championships. He(Vaclik) has a big share in today’s victory,” said the coach of the national football team.

The coaching staff was not idle. The team has brought in several players who are shining in their home clubs in the Czech Republic. Lukáš Kalvach played for Viktoria Plzeň and Václav Jurečka for Slovácko.

Sending Jakub Jankt into the starting lineup also proved to be a good move. He took his chance brilliantly. Overall, the whole formation looked very offensive. Despite all the nominations, this was the key to open the win.

“We were happy with the barrage games in Sweden and Wales. We wanted to preserve everything. There was satisfaction from our side,” explained Šilhavy.

Lineup changes?

There was also an explanation in the form of the nomination of Spartan defender Krejci, who gave a very respectable performance to earn another chance in the Czech Republic’s starting line-up.

“Tomas Petrasek had to go home because of a muscle injury. Unfortunately, Václav Jemelka was unable to attend due to a virus. That’s why Ladislav Krejci was here,” said the Czech coach.

“We are thinking about calling up one or two players. We will see how the players will be medically. We will decide according to that. There is not much time and many players were iced after the game. We will see. We always want to build the team to have an axis,” he added.

At the same time, a new contract was mentioned. For a long time there were rumours about replacements for Jaroslav Šilhavy. Still, there were no surprises. We can tell whether it will be good at the end of this autumn, after the group games in the Nations League.

“We play matches at the highest level for blood. There have been a few absences. It’s been more difficult. I’m happy we made it through. I could feel it from the guys as well. I don’t know if it was also from my contract. (smile) Communication with the team is working,” the coach added.

Shooting taste

Jan Kuchta scored his first goal for the national team. After seven matches he broke the goal scoring zero in the historical tables of the Czech Republic. As a substitute for Patrik Schick he showed himself in a great light.

“Honza did not disappoint. He did a terrific job. He is a different player than Patrik. He scored the first goal and worked on the field until he was substituted. He played very well,” mentioned Šilhavy.

“I am very happy for the transfer. I believe it will help and make him even more valid. I’m sure he will go up in quality. It’s easier for us now to watch him at the striker position,” said the coach about Adam Hložek.

The Czech team leads the group over Spain, Portugal and Switzerland. Three points for now.

“I haven’t looked at the table yet. I don’t want to make light of it. I think this is an extremely difficult group. We are in the best company. We will fight with Switzerland for promotion,” Jaroslav Šilhavy concluded the post-match press conference.
