Jakub Jankto left Italy a year ago after a few years and went to Spain, specifically to Getafe. But he didn’t last long at the club. After one season in which he struggled with health problems, he will move to a new address.
Jankto will leave Getafe after one year
It was 2014 when Jakub Jankto, then only 18 years old, went abroad as a young talent. From Slavia he made his way to Udinese in Italy. In his jersey, he made his way into the starting line-up and was often linked with transfers to big clubs like AC Milan or Arsenal.
In 2019, however, he headed to Genoa, where he wore the jersey of Sampdoria for two years. Even in their jersey, he worked his way up as a key player, which earned him a transfer to Spain, specifically to Getafe.
But he had a very unsuccessful season at the club from the outskirts of Madrid. On the one hand, Getafe did not do well at all and in the end only saved a point in the top competition, and on the other hand, Jankto himself had health problems.
Moreover, Getafe changed coach during the season and the new one hardly used him. He changed the system and Jankto simply had no place in it. So he had to fill the hole on the left side of the defence in a pinch.
Even before the end of the season, the Czech international hinted that if things continued like this and no change was made, he would have to address his future. And that is exactly what is happening. He has already said goodbye to his fans and teammates on Instagram and is now looking for a new engagement.
Jankt’s departure has sparked a wave of criticism of the coach
Getafe’s coach is Quique Sánchez Flores, who took the helm last October. The team did manage to save itself under his leadership, but as has already been said, it was the case. Moreover, Getafe did not present a very impressive football.
Now, when information about Jankt’s departure started circulating on social media and in the media, the club’s coach was loudly discussed instead of the Czech international. Even the Prague Slavia alumnus was defended by those discussing his decision to leave.
However, they regret that Jankto practically did not get a chance to show what he has in him. Moreover, Jankto was praised for sacrificing himself for the team and behaving like a professional.
And the criticism of Flores? Fans are only bothered by the lineup he prefers. He likes to play five defensemen. Other than that, Flores hasn’t been successful anywhere.
So the prediction is clear. “We will be looking for a new coach again in November at the latest,” are the clear words of Getafe supporters, who, on the one hand, want to see the former Valencia or Atlético Madrid coach go. However, they hope for one thing. That their beloved Getafe will stay in the first league.
