The beginning of his engagement in Spanish Getafe is not going as Jakub Jankt expected. His team hasn’t won a point yet and is last after six rounds, the 25-year-old midfielder also suffered an ankle injury.
In the 13th minute of the match against Rayo Vallecano Jankto misstepped and had to leave the pitch on a stretcher. Initial forecasts predicted a serious injury, with coach Míchel fearing damage to the fibula or tibia. Fortunately, Jankt’s leg held up without a fracture, so he was able to rest at least a little.
However, he has a sprained ankle that will sideline him for four to six weeks. Jankt’s injury was reported by Spanish daily Marca.
He is certain to miss the next national team meeting, where Jaroslav Šilhavy’s charges will play Wales and Belarus in the World Cup qualifiers.
A few days after his transfer to Getafe, Jankto played half-time against Sevilla, then managed a full match against Barcelona. He did the same against Elche and had to make a substitution after 13 minutes against Vallecano. The Azulones are not doing well at all so far, they have scored only 2 goals and haven’t got a point in 6 rounds. So far they are last in the La Liga table.
Jankto will miss the matches against Betis, Real Sociedad, Levante and Celta Vigo. If all goes well, he could return for the games against Granada or Espanyol Barcelona.
