Jamie Vardy returned to the Leicester line-up and the Foxes enjoyed 3 points after a long time. They won the league for the first time since the England striker was injured. Once again it was confirmed that despite his age Vardy is an extremely important player, moreover he broke another record.

Burnley resisted Leicester at home for a long time, especially Nick Pope made good saves in his team’s goal.

However, in the 72nd minute Jamie Vardy, who finally returned to the line-up after a thigh muscle injury, took the field. 10 minutes later, he assisted on Maddison’s goal. Then in the last minute, he scored himself and took away the Clarets’ hopes of an equaliser.

The English striker, who is now undoubtedly one of the club’s legends, proved once again that even at his advanced age he is not a write-off. At 35, he is still firing, with 10 goals in 17 league games this season.

Not only that, unlike many strikers, he is productive even in his late footballing years, Vardy is basically in his prime. His goal in the Burnley net was his 94th at the age of 30+.

This made him alone in this category, a position he shared with Ian Wright, former Arsenal and Crystal Palace striker.

Plus, it doesn’t look like he’s going to be retiring any time soon. He could theoretically reach the 100-goal mark in his 30s later this season and, barring a surprise exit from the league in the summer, he could still increase his record.

The Leicester talisman has experience of breaking records in the past too. During the title season, he made it through 11 games in a row, surpassing Ruud van Nistelrooy.

In the same period, he managed to score or assist in 15 consecutive games, another Premier League record. Since this season, however, Vardy has to share it as Salah equalled it in December.

A very respectable achievement for someone who only made his Premier League debut at the age of 27. Moreover, with his incredible story, he has not only made his mark in the hearts of many football fans, but also in the history of English football.
