James Rodriguez’s last shot? He wants to return to Europe in the summer, agent is already casting his nets

At 30 years old, James Rodríguez is definitely not thinking about retirement yet and wants to return to European football as soon as possible. At least that’s what journalist Fabrizio Romano reported.
The Colombian midfielder was supposed to return to form at Everton, where his “football father” Carlo Ancelotti brought him from Real Madrid. However, he left after the season and the team was taken over by Rafael Benítez, who gave permission to sell Rodríguez to Qatari team Al-Rayyan SC.
In his new position, the Cúcuta native played 14 games, scoring 5 goals and 7 assists. But the skilful midfielder has probably had enough of the Qatari sun and would like to return to big football.
According to Fabrizio Romano, he has already roped in his agent to cast the nets and secure him a European engagement. Thus, it seems he will not honour the contract he signed with Al-Rayyan SC until 2024.
Back in February, there were reports running through the English media that Rodríguez could return to Everton, who are currently struggling to survive in the Premier League.
However, there will surely be more interested parties, we are still talking about a midfielder who is only 30 years old and has great kicking technique, and there is definitely a place for such a player!
Many might think that Rodríguez is doing this to get a nomination for the World Cup, which will take place at the end of the year in Qatar, but that is where Colombia will miss out, having missed out on direct qualification by 3 points (Ecuador finished 4th) and the barrier by a point (Peru finished 5th).
