Jablonec wants to compete in Europe for promotion to the spring season! But I wanted a different group, Pilař lamented. What did Pelta say?
Jablonec already knows the opponents it will face in the Conference Europa League group stage. However, it is impossible to say that there is any great satisfaction. Both Miroslav Pelta and Václav Pilař wanted somewhat more famous opponents.

AZ Alkmaar, Romanian Cluj and Danish team FC Randers. This is the list of opponents Jablonec will fight with to qualify for the spring part of the Conference Europa League.
This is a playable group in which Jablonec could have a chance to advance. However, only the first-place teams will advance directly, while the second-place teams will face the teams from the third-place teams in the Europa League’s basic groups.
And how does the lot in the north of Bohemia rate? “I’ll be honest. I wanted one of the giants, either AS Roma or Tottenham Hotspur. That would have been a big attraction. On the other hand, from a sporting point of view, I am happy with the draw. The opponents are of high quality, but they are playable,” said club boss Miroslav Pelta.
The former FAČR chairman hopes Jablonec can fight for promotion from the group. However, he sees AZ Alkmaar as the favourite. ” Our progression to the spring fights would be another historic success for Jablonec in the European Cup,” Pelta is clear.
” Personally, I wanted a different group. I wanted Tottenham. When it was getting thin, it looked quite likely, unfortunately it didn’t work out.”
The former Viktoria Plzeň and Sigma Olomouc midfielder also favours Alkmaar and expects a tough match against the Dutch side. Pilař remembers Cluj from the past, the current line-up is unknown to him.
“I didn’t like Randers much either. It was probably the worst draw from the fourth basket, because the Danish style and sophisticated Danish defence will be tough. I wished for other teams, but I’m grateful that Jablonec made it to the cups,” Pilař continued.
The skilful winger hopes Jablonec will make a good name and a good brand in Europe. “We would like to fight for promotion. We know it will be difficult. We have to study our opponents,” Pilař concluded his statement to the club’s website.
