Ivan Schranz remains in the hospital. What problems did the examination reveal?
In the European Conference League match between Slavia and Kosovo’s FC Ballkani, there were also less pleasant events outside the goals. In the European Conference League match between Slavia and the Kosovo team FC Ballkani, there were also less pleasant events outside the goals. Fifteen minutes before the end, Ivan Schranz found himself on the ground after contact and was unluckily bumped into by an opposing player. Moreover, a knee to the head. And the trouble was over.
But it didn’t look like that at first glance. Schranz left the field on a stretcher, but he gave a thumbs up at the sign of good health and was still holding his daughter in the stadium a few minutes after the contact. But the course of events quickly changed.
The Slovakian international began to feel nauseous and headed to the Central Military Hospital for an examination. This revealed a fractured orbital bone, temporal bone and even a fractured sixth cervical vertebra. Injuries that are in no way consistent with any sporting activity.
Schranz remains hospitalized in the Department of Neurosurgery, where he can probably stay for several days. According to the first information, the Slavic player will have at least six weeks of rest. However, a longer break from football is expected.
In other words, thanks to the World Cup in Qatar, the autumn part is history for the Slovak. However, the quality in the squad of Jindřich Trpišovský’s team should be able to cope with the situation. Even though it has lost the man who shot Slavia into the ECL.
Czech football remembers similar injuries like his. We don’t have to go too far to find the match between Slavia and Rangers in March 2021. Ondrej Kolar suffered a fractured frontal bone and had to return to the goal with a helmet, following Petr Cech’s example.
And Čech is another case of dangerous play around the opponent’s head. The former Czech national team player was on the verge of death, but in the end he managed his fight and played many great games with a helmet on his head. Let’s hope that Schranz adds a lot of games as well and that the head injury doesn’t have long term effects.
