Dávid Hancko also commented on the alleged racism at Letná during the Sparta – Rangers match. According to him, the whole case is unnecessarily inflated by Rangers, the player himself did not notice any racism at the stadium.
Dávid Hancko was the player whose goal decided Sparta’s 1:0 win over Rangers. The Prague club thus gained three very important points in the Europa League group table, which sent them to the current second place.
However, the whole match was overshadowed by a scandal that began to be solved in the British Isles after the match. The Scots accused the Spartan children of racism, they were supposed to be the most insulting to Glen Kamara.
The problem is that Glen Kamara is a very unpopular player in the Czech Republic. So it was more about showing dislike than racist insults, as the behaviour of the Spartan children is presented by the Rangers representatives.
Even Spartan defender Dávid Hancko did not notice anything. “I didn’t notice anything with racist overtones at all. Even the club told us that the delegate did not write anything in the match report,” Hancko said in an interview at the Slovak national team meeting.
“It created a bit of a bubble. Kamara was booed after a red card, which would have been the same for any other player who would have been sent off. I think it’s unnecessarily inflated on their part,” Hancko commented on the case
Rangers’ complaint will now be dealt with by UEFA. The latter will examine whether the Spartan fans were indeed guilty of racism and may possibly punish the Prague club again with a fine and a ban on fans entering the stadium.
