Maradona still lives in the hearts of all Argentine fans as the greatest legend of the football nation
It is no secret about the devotion of Argentines to football and it is also no mystery that if there is one man who represents this devotion and passion, it is not only in Argentina, it is Diego Armando Maradona. He became a legend in the South American nation after winning the 1986 World Cup with the Argentina team in Mexico.
However, 36 years have passed since that year, Maradona is no longer alive and the heir to his glory at national level was to be Lionel Messi. The legend of contemporary football, who spent most of his football career at Barcelona, has already qualified with Argentina for this year’s World Cup hosted in Qatar. At the age of 34, this is his last chance to win this competition with Argentina and revive the legend of the late Maradona.
Fans have come up with the idea of having Maradona’s heart travel with the team to the World Cup in Qatar
A group of Argentine fans have come up with the unusual idea of having Messi and his teammates accompany Maradona’s heart to the Middle Eastern country. Recently, reports spread through the internet that Maradona’s heart was not buried with the Argentine footballer’s body due to fears about its theft.
“It has been reported in the news that Maradona’s heart has been placed in the prosecutor’s office,” said Javier Mentasti, a representative of the fan group, according to the Marca daily. “We imagine a procession carrying it (Maradona’s heart) and the whole procession will gather at Ezeiza (Buenos Aires airport) before flying to Qatar,” he added.
“It is an idea we have and we want all Argentines to start listening to it. We need to see if it’s even possible,” Mentasti said. ” Maradona would definitely like to be at Lionel Messi’s last World Cup,” he added.
In the summer of 2021, Messi won his first title with Argentina at the Copa América, held in Brazil. So now is a unique moment to emulate Maradona and with his heart by their side, the Argentina national team would surely have their motivation taken care of.
