Another big win was scored by doubles players Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova, who will also add the trophy from the tournament in Indian Wells to their collection. In the Californian desert they managed to win against the debuting pair Siegemund/Haddad Mai in the super tiebreak.

The first set was dominated by the Czech-Moravian pair from the start. Neither player faltered on her serve. Sure shots from Krejcikova on the baseline and Siniakova’s uncompromising play at the net gave Siegemund and Haddad Mai no chance. A 6:1 win in the first set showed who is dominating the women’s doubles at the moment.

The second set was very evenly contested until the seventh game, when the German-Brazilian pair took advantage of a break point for the first time. But Krejcikova and Siniakova managed to react and took back the lost serve.

Then Krejcikova went on serve, but she also failed to serve well and Siegemund and Haddad Mai had the advantage of three set points on their serve.

However, Krejcikova and Siniakova showed great fight and experience and eventually turned the game around and the second set continued. In the twelfth game they even got the first match point, but they did not use it.

The tiebreak followed and there were too many unforced errors from both of our players. Siegemund, who had been urging her teammate on throughout the match, managed the important moments of the shortened game and the German-Brazilian pair celebrated victory in the second set – 6::7(3).

The final thus went into a super-tiebreak, which is played to ten winning points. However, it was clear from the beginning how Krejcikova and Siniakova can handle these difficult moments. The score was changing from side to side for a long time, and then came the all-important point at 8::5.

The match was then ended by a great shot down the line from Krejcikova – 10::7. The pair from the Czech Republic can check off another trophy in their doubles collection.
