This Friday is the start of the race weekend in Turkey and apart from the interesting race, Formula 1 fans can expect something unusual. The Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Alpha Tauri teams will be running in special livery! The reason in this case is quite simple.
8. – On October 10, we will see the F1 teams and drivers in Turkey, on the occasion of the next race of this season. And it’s the Red Bull and Alpha Tauri monoblocs that will be wearing a special livery at the Istanbul circuit.
The event was originally arranged for the Japanese Grand Prix. But that was cancelled because of the Covid-19. Anyway, the famous Formula 1 team wants to pay tribute and thank its engine manufacturer.
The Red Bull and Alpha Tauri monoblocs will be predominantly in white. The inspiration came from the legendary Honda RA 272, which Richie Ginther won Honda’s first race in Mexico in 1965.
Since the partnership began in 2018, Honda has significantly helped both teams moving forward. Especially Red Bull, which has managed to collect 13 victories since that year. The Japanese engine manufacturer was also there when Pierre Gasly in the Alpha Tauri sensationally triumphed in the 2020 Italian Grand Prix.
Overall, Red Bull and Honda have combined for thirty-five podium finishes and eleven pole positions so far.
The Red Bull Content Pool website also features a statement from stable boss Christian Horner. “We were all looking forward to giving the Japanese Honda fans a chance to celebrate our hugely successful relationship in Formula 1, on home soil in Suzuka.
However, even though the race was the victim of a pandemic, we couldn’t let it go. Without paying tribute to Honda and its amazing home fans. The livery chosen for our cars pays tribute to Honda and its remarkable journey through Formula 1
However, Red Bull and Alpha Tauri are not the only teams to change livery this year as a result of a special occasion. They celebrated their partnership with Gulf Oil at McLaren in Monaco, and Alfa Romeo had beautiful colours at Monza in Italy.
The team has scheduled the full car unveiling for tomorrow, Thursday, October 7. And when that happens, we’ll add that special appearance for you in this very article.
