Italy managed to win the second match of the group stage of the Euro. After a 3-0 win over Switzerland, they are now certain to qualify from the group, while their opponents must win their last match. The goals were scored by Ciro Immobile and Manuel Locatelli twice.
The Italians were clearly more active from the start, but made frequent mistakes in the final stages. In the 19th minute they were already ahead, but Giorgio Chiellini’s goal could not stand for a hand.
Six minutes later, a regular goal was scored. Manuel Locatelli started the action with a nice pass, which he finished himself after a centre by Domenico Berardi.
In the 37th minute, Leandro Spinazzola had a decent chance but missed the target. After that, the first half was more of a finish, with both teams clearly happy with the 0-1 scoreline for Italy at half-time.
The Swiss entered the second half more actively, but right in the 52nd minute they were again fishing the ball out of the net, with Locatelli again pushing through with a shot from distance. Xherdan Shaqiri tried to reduce the deficit in the 61st minute, but did not find the target.
Steven Zuber had a much better chance three minutes later, but Gianluigi Donnarumma saved it. In the 73rd minute, Ciro Immobile had a goal but just missed the back post. In the 89th minute, the Lazio Rome goalkeeper could have celebrated, shooting past Yann Sommer from outside the box.
Italy won 3:0 and are now certain to reach the eighth round. Switzerland, on the other hand, must beat Turkey in four days.
