Venice, Italy, returned to the top flight after 19 long years. The newcomer to the Italian Serie A would like to be competitive and a new signing should help them to do so. The club from Venice has been reinforced by experienced Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero.
Thirty-four-year-old Sergio Romero left Manchester United after six years where he covered David De Gea’s back. He started 61 competitive matches for the Red Devils and was involved in triumphs in the FA Cup, League Cup or Europa League.
Before joining Manchester United, Romero wore the jerseys of Argentine Racing Club, AZ Alkmaar, Sampdoria Genoa and Monaco.
Some Czech fans may remember the Argentine goalkeeper from the 2007 Under-20 World Cup in Canada.
He was Argentina’s number one goalkeeper at that championship, with whom he triumphed at the expense of the Czech Republic.
Now Romero is returning to the Apennine Peninsula after six years, but not to Genoa, but to Venice, the newcomer to the Italian Serie A.
Romero should become the goalkeeper who will help Venice to better results and, above all, to save among the elite, which is the main goal of this Italian team.
