It was one of my best duels this year, shone after advancing Pliskova

Karolina Pliskova defeated Victoria Azarenka 2:1 at the US Open and advanced to the Grand Slam quarterfinals. The Czech tennis player was satisfied with her game after the match.
Pliskova entered the match fantastically. She broke her opponent right from the start and took a 3:0 lead in the first set.
However, she quickly lost the lead and even lost her serve twice. Azarenka went on to serve for the first set at 5:4.
But the Czech player did not give up the set and despite two set points she managed to break the tiebreak. What’s more, she also took another service from her upset opponent and dominated the first set 7::5.
The second set was very even. With one break on both sides, the tie break had to decide the outcome. Azarenka took advantage of her great entry and finally leveled the match at 1: 1.
However, the third set belonged to only one tennis player, namely Pliskova. Azarenka didn’t even get a single break point, but Pliskova took advantage of her two chances and won 6: 2. The Czech Republic thus made it to the quarterfinals of the US Open.
“I am happy, it was one of my best matches this year. Even if I had lost the match, it would have been just a matter of small things,” said Pliskova, according to Tennis World, satisfied with her performance.
Pliskova also admitted that the success at the US Open will change the perspective on her so far unsuccessful season. She can improve her results in the next round, where she will face Aryna Sabalenka.
