Isco, De Gea, Adama Traoré or Kamad. Free players who are still waiting for new engagements
At the end of June, or even earlier for some, their contract expired and they have been without a club since. While teams are already flying around the world in pre-season training, they are preparing individually. Who is currently a free agent waiting for an offer?
At the end of June, or even earlier for some, their contract expired and they have been without a club since. While most teams are already flying around the world in pre-season training, they are preparing individually. Who is currently a free agent waiting for an offer?
Daichi Kamada – 26 years old, midfielder
Let’s start with the most valuable players. Daichi Kamada is not on the free agent list because no one wants him. On the contrary, he has slightly higher salary demands than Frankfurt could meet, reportedly asking for €3 million a year.
It has to be said that he deserves the money, last season he scored 16 goals and added 7 assists. His value according to the Transfermarkt website is 27 million euros, so whoever gets him for free will make a great deal. There is speculation about Manchester United, Lazio Roma, West Ham or Al-Hilal’s interest.
David de Gea – 32 years old, goalkeeper
Manchester United’s long-time number one until a few weeks ago, but currently a free agent waiting for a new deal. One of the best goalkeepers in the world a few years ago, De Gea’s reflexes are second to none.
However, the problem is his footwork and in this day and age of modern goalkeepers, it’s hard to imagine a top team reaching for him. So the only speculation with his name so far is to Saudi Arabia.
Adama Traoré – 27 years old, right winger
He has been a hit in the 2019/20 season. His “hype” was helped by his popular FIFA game, in which he was one of the fastest players in the world. He confirmed this in the Premier League, his speed, giant musculature and extreme strength in tackles made him great to watch. He scored 6 goals and 14 assists for Wolves that season.
After that, his production dropped off a bit, but in the winter of 2022, he was finally snapped up by Barcelona, where he grew up. But he didn’t make much of an impact at the Camp Nou and returned to Wolverhampton, where he started 36 games last season with a 2+1 record. His contract expired in June and he still hasn’t signed a new one.
Moussa Dembele – 27 years old, striker
Another surprise player on the list of footballers without a commitment. Moussa Dembele, after arriving in Lyon, scored 15 goals first in Ligue 1 and 16 the second season. He then had a six-month loan spell at Atlético Madrid, where he played only 5 games, but upon his return he netted 21 goals in 30 games last season.
But he didn’t follow that up last season, scoring just three times in 23 games. But he still hasn’t lost his killer instinct and you can expect a team looking for a striker to take notice of him soon.
Yerry Mina – 28 years old, stopper
Mina spent five years at Everton. However, he was only a stable stopper in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons. After that, he only started 13 league games and even made only seven appearances last season, although he managed to score twice. Everton were no longer interested in his services and let the 28-year-old Colombian stopper go.
Isco – 31 years old, midfielder
Isco has been without a commitment since the end of the autumn when he split with Sevilla. He was subsequently due to sign for Union Berlin, but the latter reduced their offer three times at the last minute, resulting in Isco’s refusal. In a recent interview he let it be known that he needed some mental rest, but now he is excited and ready to return to football. Will someone try to recreate Isco’s magic?
Other players without commitments
Mohamed Elyounoussi – 28 years, Tom Davies – 25 years, Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 25 years, Jesse Lingard – 30 years, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain – 29 years, Manuel Lanzini – 29 years, Lucas Moura – 30 years, Ross Barkley – 29 years, Eden Hazard – 32 years, Sergio Ramos – 37 years, Alexis Sanchez – 34 years.
