Twenty-two-year-old de Ligt could become a summer and a hot acquisition for Chelsea in London. Two defenders have left the English club. The talented and brilliant defender Rüdiger went to Real Madrid, the Danish stopper Christensen moved to Barcelona.
De Ligt’s current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is 70 million euros, but the Juventus back line mainstay would literally tear Chelsea apart. And, as you can see, coach Thomas Tuchel really wants him.
Based on information from The Guardian, Chelsea are willing to send €38 million to Italy and as much as €38 million in player compensation to Tim Werner. And they may try to “throw in” Christian Pulisic as well.
De Ligt also has an exit clause in his contract which says that on payment of £103m the Dutch full-back could move to London.
However, Juventus are likely to prefer a cash transfer rather than a no player swap. However, this would be a very expensive deal for Chelsea, which the technical director of the Stamford Bridge outfit reportedly does not recommend.
However, he is on his way out of Chelsea, with new owner Todd Boehly taking the lead. We will have to wait for more information on de Ligt’s transfer to London. In any case, the likelihood of a transfer is not small, although the price negotiations will not be easy for Chelsea representatives with Juventus.
De Ligt has played 117 games for the Turin club so far, scoring eight goals and adding three assists. He has won three trophies with Juventus so far – for the winners of the Italian league, the Italian Cup and he also celebrated his triumph in the Italian Super Cup.
