Will Mason Mount leave Chelsea for Arsenal? That’s the question that seems to be plaguing Blues fans lately, but given the current situation at the London club, his departure would understandably make sense. The Gunners are reportedly working on a transfer for the England international.

Currently, the second Premier League outfit is expecting a busy summer after the end of the season. The current coach Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu are trying to build a team, or rather a wide enough squad to fight for the top rungs next season.

And not only in the Premier League, but also in the Champions League. The Gunners are having a great league season, having led the English top flight for a very long time.

However, the last few games have not gone well for Arteta and co., they have lost the lead and Manchester City have taken the lead in the Premier League, as they attack to defend the title.

It is already clear that the first names on Arsenal’s list of potential reinforcements are Declan Rice from West Ham and Moisés Caicedo from Brighton. But that will be far from the end of Edu and Arteta’s efforts.

The Gunners, according to the latest reports, are also working on the transfer of Mounta from Chelsea. The latter, like many other players, is unhappy at the Stamford Bridge club and would probably not resist leaving.

Chelsea purge

The Athletic newspaper has recently reported that several players are indeed planning to leave Chelsea in London. And that includes Mount. For example, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, whose services are sought by both Milan clubs, has also been linked with a departure.

Moreover, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has spoken about the club carrying out a rather significant purge in the summer. Some players were even expected to express their regret at signing long-term contracts at the club.

The question is whether Mount would fit into Arsenal’s concept and style of play. However, it must be noted Arteta is a great coach not only because he has a truly refined feel for selecting players and potential reinforcements.

It should be added, Arsenal will face a London derby against Chelsea on Tuesday night, which the England international will not feature in due to injury.
