Ondřej Kolář is back in great form. The 28-year-old goalkeeper replaced Ales Mandous in goal at the beginning of October and showed that he deserves the opportunity. He made several good saves against Ballkani and thanks to him there is still hope for a promotion to the spring phase of the Conference Europa League.

Since the fateful duel at Ibrox Stadium, Ondrej Kolar has not been able to get back to his original form. It took a long time, but now it seems that he might finally be back.

He got into goal due to an injury to teammate Ales Mandouse and grabbed the chance by the scruff of the neck. He has helped his team a lot in many matches and it was no different in Kosovo.

Ballkani was not a bad opponent and the equalizer was not far away at the end, but Kolar made some good saves and the win goes to him as well. Coach Jindřich Trpišovský praised him at the press conference after the game. Is he back to his best?

“At the moment, yes, but it’s only been a fortnight, I don’t want to praise him. However, he has played well in all the matches since his return, and he is close to his optimum in terms of movement. I still think he can be even better, there are a few percentages, but his performance was great.

Except maybe for the occasional footwork, but the terrain was difficult, his standing leg was going under, it was hard to get under the ball. He knows himself it wasn’t ideal, but goal-wise it was great.

He exudes calmness, confidence, he helps us with communication, the organisation in the defensive area has improved a lot since his return. But so far it’s only been about 20 days, we need a longer period of time to confirm it,” said the coach.

Slavia will surely need him in the end of the autumn. The weekend’s schedule includes a derby at Bohemians, then a must-win clash with Sivaspor and then hoping Ballkani can score in Cluj.

Slavia will then host Baník Ostrava at home and finish the league autumn in Zlín. Among the last matches there should still be an inserted MOL Cup match.
