The career of Paul Pogba is very likely over. The former France international already tested positive for DHEA (testosterone) towards the end of last year, and the anti-doping authority has now decided on a four-year ban.

In the summer of 2022, Paul Pogba will return to where he thrived after a second unsuccessful stint at Manchester United, where he was for six years. For the second time, Juventus were able to bring him in for free, promising to strengthen their midfield line.

But once Pogba signed for the Turin club, complications arose. The French midfielder’s health was suffering, along with the bad decisions he made. He mostly missed the entire 2022/23 season, starting only 10 games, in which he barely crossed the 150 minutes played mark.

This season was supposed to be different, with Pogba planning to return to his old form and help Juventus return to the top of Italy. Only, in the end, nothing at all went according to plan. He played two games, 52 minutes in them.

Moreover, in September, information flew around the world that Pogba had tested positive for doping after the Udinese game and was sick. The Frenchman appealed, but unsuccessfully. A subsequent B sample also came back positive.

Juventus then suspended their player, Pogba then dropped from a salary of 8 million euros a year to 42,000. The Anti-Doping Authority also terminated all procedures and demanded the maximum penalty for the 30-year-old midfielder. And it came.

Pogba will not play for 4 years

The now 30-year-old former French international’s career is very likely over. As mentioned above, Pogba hasn’t played properly since the 2022/23 season and he won’t play in the current competition either.

Moreover, on Thursday at noon, the sports court ruled that Pogba will receive the maximum possible punishment for his positive doping test. A four-year ban. In recent weeks, Pogba has also failed to prove that he used the substance unintentionally.

So the former Manchester United player will definitely miss out on the Euros, the World Cup and probably the rest of his potentially successful career. Pogba will soon celebrate his 31st birthday, Juventus have been looking at ways to terminate his contract for a long time.

The Frenchman counts among his greatest career achievements the gold at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the 2021 UEFA Nations League championship, four Serie A titles and the 2016/17 Europa League win with Manchester United.

Pogba will appeal the decision of the sports tribunal, according to his official statement. ” As a professional athlete, I would never do anything to enhance my performance by taking banned substances, and I have never disrespected or cheated fellow athletes or supporters of any team I have played for or against, ” he said.
