Is a battle for a rising coaching star looming? Brighton coach linked with two big clubs
Brighton seem to have a patent on finding talented and interesting coaches. After Graham Potter, the Italian strategist Robert de Zerbi took over the scepter and has been even more successful at the Seagulls than his predecessors. It is not surprising that there seems to be a fight for him.

Will we see Brighton in the European Cups next season? A question that few would have asked not so long ago is now becoming completely relevant. They have managed to put together an interesting squad, led by an equally interesting coach.
After Graham Potter left for Chelsea, where he is not doing well at all, Italian strategist Robert de Zerbi has arrived on the south coast of England. He was most recently in charge of Shakhtar Donetsk and has been more than solid so far.
The Seagulls are now eighth in the Premier League, eight points behind third-placed Tottenham. However, they also have three games to play and if they manage all of them, the cards will be dealt in a completely different way again.
Of course, the likelihood of Brighton getting into the Champions League is not great. But winning Europe is not unrealistic. However, it is questionable whether de Zerbi will be the one to lead a sympathetic selection next season.
There is a lot of interest in the Italian. Recently, there was speculation about Liverpool’s interest, who were going through a major crisis. However, it seems that Jürgen Klopp and co. can finally get out of it. But if they don’t, de Zerbi is set to be first choice.
And Liverpool are far from the only team considering the current Brighton coach. Tottenham are also looking for a new man on the bench, and although they are led by Antonio Conte, clearly all is not well in the cabin.
Although the club’s owner Daniel Levy is rather keen for Mauricio Pochettino to return, the Argentine is still waiting to see if an offer from Real Madrid arrives. In addition, sporting director Fabio Paratici will have a big say this time, as he wants to bring in de Zerbi.
Moreover, de Zerbi will not be that expensive. According to the English media, his contract has a release clause set at €13 million. So far, however, he is playing the speculation “into the ground” by saying that he has a long contract at Brighton.
