Hesperange vs. Slovan Bratislava
Year after year, Slovakian teams outdo themselves in who else the lesser-known ones fall out with. An end in the first round of the Champions League would be shameful for Slovan, after a 1-1 home draw, it’s not far off.
The Slovakian champions will be without the gutted Juraj Kucka, and Luxembourg football is going up. This sounds alibistic and ridiculous, but just remember that Luxembourg drew with the Slovaks in the Euro qualifiers.
Sheriff Tiraspol vs. Farul Constanta
You may not even know Farul, they are the unexpected Romanian champions who won 2-1 at home against Sheriff. The Moldovans are still the favourites, after all, they played the European Conference League play-offs last year and the Champions League group the year before.
Ludogorets vs. Ballkani
Probably the most evenly matched pair in the Champions League, from which the Kosovo champion came out a little unexpectedly better in the first match. And by two goals. Ludogorets will dominate at home, experience plays for them as well, but we saw last year that Ballkani definitely has the quality.
Dinamo Tbilisi vs. Astana
The Eastern European derby between Astana of Kazakhstan and Dinamo Tbilisi of Georgia is a clash of the rise of two non-football countries. A 1-1 draw plays to the Georgians, who are sure to turn out in large numbers after their experience at the Under-21 Euros.
Dila Gori vs. Dunajská Streda
Georgia again, this time the Conference League. Dunajská Streda handled their home match against Dila Gori well, a 2: 1 win counts. Pilsen Farm at least has some light cup experience, which can play to their advantage.
Neman vs. Vaduz
Vaduz impressed by qualifying for the EKL group last year by winning the Liechtenstein Cup, despite being from the second Swiss league. It did the same this year, but surprisingly lost to Belarus’ Neman in the first preliminary round. He has a lot of ground to make up in the domestic rematch.
