Inter Milan vs. Viktoria Plzen: Preview and betting tips

Viktoria Plzeň are on their last Champions League outing of the season. In the penultimate round they will challenge Inter Milan, who are playing for a lot. If they beat Viktoria, they will secure their qualification to the next round of the Champions League and knock out Barcelona.

This will be Plzeň’s fifth confrontation with European giants. It first lost 1:5 to Barcelona, then suffered a 0:2 defeat at home to Inter, followed by a 0:5 drubbing at Bayern and a 2:4 home defeat to Bayern.

At the San Siro they can fight for the first points, if we theorize a lot, they are still in the game for the Europa League. However, it would have to beat both Inter and Barcelona, and the Catalans would also not be allowed to get a point against Bayern, so there is a mathematical chance, but the probability is close to zero.

Plzen in the league and in the cups, it’s a difference of night and day. While in the Champions League it is considered a minnow and even dropped out in the Mol Cup with third-league Hlucin, in the domestic league it runs like clockwork. It hasn’t lost yet, it has won ten out of 12 games, drawn two, and has a four-point lead over Slavia with a game to spare.

Inter are the opposite. While in the Champions League it has Barcelona on the scoop, whom it first beat and then drew with, although it could have easily won at the Camp Nou, in Serie A it hasn’t worked so well so far.

After 11 rounds, Inter are only seventh in the table with 21 points, outside the cups. It has won seven games, lost four and is the only team in the entire league that hasn’t experienced a draw. On the other hand, they are only three points behind Lazio in third, so it is not a big gap.

And what to bet on in the return leg? Inter know very well what they are playing for. If it beats Plzen, it is in the Champions League eighth round, so it will certainly want to decide the match as soon as possible and not complicate the situation.

Moreover, Viktoria have not been able to keep a clean sheet for more than 20 minutes in any Champions League match. It scored in the 13th minute against Barcelona, in the 20th minute against Inter, and in the 7th and 10th minutes against Bayern. That’s why it’s an interesting bet that Inter will take the lead in the 30th minute.
