Inter Milan have a home league game against Empoli on Friday and must win if they want to keep their title hopes alive. The visitors have nothing to play for anymore, their salvation is assured and they are too far away from the cup positions.
Inter may have already crashed out of the Champions League in the eighth round, but they are still fighting for the title in Serie A. It has won four of its last five games and is only two points behind first-placed AC. With three rounds left to play, everything is open.
Empoli, on the other hand, have not done well in the second half of the season, winning only one of their last nineteen league games. They are already assured of salvation, nine points ahead of the relegation places.
Lautaro Martinez is doing well for Inter, the Argentine international has scored twenty-one times and assisted four times. Hakan Calhanoglu has scored seven times and assisted eleven times.
Nedim Bajrami is dragging the visitors, the Albanian midfielder has scored nine times and assisted on six goals. Italian U21 international Andrea Pinamonti celebrated a goal 12 times and assisted twice.
The home side will miss Alessandro Bastoni, while the visitors have to make do with Valeri Velle and Petar Stojanovic.
Inter rely on a goal-scoring attack, with seventy-four goals scored they have the league’s best offense, scoring more than once in five of their last six games.
That doesn’t play into the hands of Empoli, which has scored nine times in the last three rounds.
Given the form of Inter’s offense, I think they will win, but I don’t expect a win by a high margin. That’s why I recommend betting on a win by a maximum of three goals.
