Goaltender Connor Ingram and forwards Mathhew Barzal and Jack Hughes were named the NHL Stars of the Week. Sidney Crosby’s 565th goal for the Philadelphia Flyers moved him into 23rd place on the all-time scoring list.
The Arizona Coyotes goaltender was voted the week’s biggest star. Ingram helped his team to three victories last week and pushed Karel Vejmelka out of the crease unobtrusively. He stopped 89 of 94 shots and pulled in a 94.7% save percentage while averaging 1.63 goals per game.
The second star of the week was the New York Islanders center. Barzal collected seven points in two games played for two goals and five assists. He has now recorded 24 three-point games in his career.
The New Jersey Devils center was the third honoree. Hughes, on the other hand, reached seven points with his performances, but needed only three games played in which he recorded three goals and four assists. He has the best points average in the league so far – 1.76 per game. Due to injuries, he played only 17 games and scored 30 points.
Crosby jumps up the scoring charts again
Sidney Crosby scored the only goal for the visiting team in Philadelphia Flyers vs Pittsburgh Penguins (2:1p). It was his 565th goal of the regular season.
He leapfrogged Mats Sundin and Joe Nieuwendyk in the historical scorers table. He moved into a tie for 23rd place with Patrick Marleau, who has the same number of goals scored.
Now Crosby is ahead of NY Islanders legend Mike Bossy. The born goal scorer has 573 goals (he has broken the 5-goal mark 9 times in his career), good for 22nd place.
The Penguins captain is now eight shots shy of equaling the legendary player who, like Bobby Orr, had to end his career early due to injury.
At the same time, Crosby is just four points shy of equaling defensive legend Paul Coffey, who is 14th in historical scoring with 1,531 points. He is just two points ahead of forward Mark Recchi in 13th place.
