When the great saga ends. Zlatan Ibrahimovic ended his active football career on Sunday 4 June. The Swedish cannonballer said goodbye to football in a place that Zlatan said was his home. Check out the best moments from his spectacular career.

The one and only. The football king of Sweden. God Zlatan. These are not the only nicknames fans have called Zlatan Ibrahimovic throughout his amazing and exemplary career.

But now, due to lingering injuries, it is time for the forty-one-year-old Malmö native to say goodbye to football.

Ibrahimovic got his start in Malmö, but it wasn’t until he was in an Ajax jersey that he made his first major impact on European soil. Zlatan went through several European big clubs in his career. He has played for Inter, Juventus, Barcelona, PSG, Manchester United and AC Milan.

Due to his character, behaviour and footballing ability, many fans regard Ibrahimovic as an absolutely exceptional player who will probably never be seen on league turf again. After all, that is probably why the San Siro became almost a valley of tears on Sunday night.

Ibrahimovic has made his presence known several times over time, most often with some never-before-seen piece of football.

In the attached Twitter post below, by the way, you can recall just the best moments of his football career.

Stats and achievements

As you can notice above, Zlatan has achieved an impressive number of successes in his career, with only twelve games short of the thousand mark.

Ibrahimovic scored the most goals at PSG, in whose jersey he played 180 competitive matches, scoring 156 goals and assisting another 61. He scored the second highest number of goals and also the second highest number of games at AC.

He played a total of 163 games for the Rossoneri, scoring 93 goals and adding 35 assists. His goal contribution was divided as follows: 66 goals for Inter, 53 for LA Galaxy, 48 for Ajax, 29 for Manchester United, 26 for Juventus, 22 for Barcelona and three for Malmö.

In terms of achievements, he has been named Footballer of the Year 15 times. Three times he was voted the best player of the season, each time in a PSG jersey. Six times he was the top scorer of the competition – three times in Ligue 1, twice in Serie A and once in the French Cup.

In the 2016/17 season, he enjoyed a trophy for the Europa League winners with United. As for European cups, he won the Super Cup with Barcelona back in 2009/10.

However, he collected the most success on the league turf, having celebrated winning the championship title twelve times. He won five titles in Serie A (three for Inter, two for AC), four in France (PSG), one in Spain (Barcelona) and two in the Netherlands (Ajax).

Among other things, he has also achieved many firsts (17) in cups, league cups or national Super Cups.
