Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has been in incredible form this season. Most recently, he downed Peterborough with two goals on Wednesday to set a new league record. How many more goals can he manage before the end of the season? And can he finally break through in the Premier League?

When Ivan Toney scored 31 goals in the Championship last season, breaking Glenn Murray’s record from the 12/13 season, many people probably expected the new record to hold for some time.

However, it didn’t last a year. Mitrovic first equalled it last weekend with a goal in the Hull net. And in last night’s game, thanks to a penalty in the first half, he surpassed it. In the second half, he added to it with his second goal of the night and Fulham were able to celebrate a 2-1 win.

He has scored 11 goals in his last 9 games. In total, he has 33 goals (only 5 penalties) and 7 assists this season. Thanks to his fantastic form, Fulham are sovereignly first in League 2 and are on their way to the Premier League.

Moreover, Mitrovic still has 14 games to play in which he can try to break the overall record of the 2nd highest English league (not only since the renaming to Championship). That is held by Guy Whittingham – 42 goals for Portsmouth in the 92/93 season.

The Serbian marksman is simply at home in the Championship. 75 goals in 112 games only confirms it. It’s worse in the Premier League, where he’s scored just 24 times in 104 games. When Fulham were in the top flight last season, Mitrovic even scored more goals in the national team (7) than at the club (4).

He will probably have another chance to make a name for himself in the Premier League next season, whether in a Fulham jersey or another team. Given his performances this year, there will undoubtedly be interest in him.
