Incredible blunder! Watch how Slovan Bratislava goalkeeper gifted Gibraltar’s opponents an equalising goal
Slovan Bratislava can rejoice, they will play in the next stage of the Europa League and have secured the Europa Conference group. However, they certainly can’t benefit from a rematch against Lincoln in the Slovakian capital. For many reasons.
Slovan Bratislava can rejoice, they will play in the next stage of the Europa League and have secured the Europa Conference group. However, they certainly can’t benefit from a rematch against Lincoln in the Slovakian capital. For many reasons.
On Tuesday, the return leg of the Europa League preliminary round between Slovan Bratislava and Lincoln took place at Tehelny Pole. The Slovakian side won the first leg against the minnows from Gibraltar 3-1, so the rematch seemed risk-free.
And somehow the Slovan players approached it that way. They outplayed their opponents, but the fans have been very harshly criticizing the whole team for their approach to the match. According to them, it was sloppy.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw, which is not very flattering. In short, the Slovak team should not have lost to the team from Gibraltar on home soil. And in such a way…
In the 89th minute, goalkeeper Michal Šulla made a fatal mistake. And the defence helped him? No. Such mistakes shouldn’t happen at this level.
Coach Vladimír Weiss was very critical of the whole situation. I am not satisfied with the result. Nobody can afford such a primitive mistake in this club. It shouldn’t happen.”
This mistake will of course affect the coefficient of Slovak football, so Slovan is receiving criticism not only from its own ranks, but also from the fans of other clubs.
So the Slovak capital will have to make amends in the next stages of the European Cups.
