The Czech national football team will play its last match of 2021 in the World Cup qualifiers in Qatar against Estonia, but Tomáš Souček must be wary of the spring barrage. A yellow card will rule him out of the game.

The Czechs are already 100% sure of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup. In their last match against Estonia, they can only secure their seeding with a confluence of results, but the chances are rather minimal.

Therefore, the question arises whether Tomas Soucek really has to play in the match. If the captain of the Czech national team sees a yellow card, he would miss the first round of the March barrage. And that would be a really big problem.

If the Czechs are unseeded, they will play the semi-finals of the barrage on the ground of the seeded opponent. The final would already be drawn. But if Jaroslav Šilhavy’s charges had to do without Souček in the first game, it would be very difficult.

Estonia is an opponent that the national team should beat easily even without Soucek. But according to the press conference, it looks like the West Ham midfielder will start the game, he will just have to be more careful.

But playing knowing you can’t get a yellow card is very limiting. Soucek won’t be able to go all out in any duels, he will have to tame himself in header duels so he doesn’t foul with his elbow, he won’t be able to stop any quick counter attacks and that is quite a problem in the defensive midfielder position.

So let’s hope that if Soucek does come on, he won’t have to deal with any tricky situation where a yellow card is imminent. Losing the captain for the barrage in a match about almost nothing would be very unfortunate.
