I’m sure he’d rather get the Premier League goals scored record than the Bundesliga title, writes Carragher on Kane transfer

This year’s transfer window has written some interesting stories. As it seems, one of them is now coming to its climax and we should know it within this week.
It has seemed like a never-ending story. Bayern Munich began very seriously pursuing the acquisition of Harry Kane over the summer. Tottenham, and especially the club’s chairman Daniel Levy, didn’t want to give up their idol and refused all offers made.
The management of the Bavarian club began negotiations at the amount of 70 million euros + possible bonuses. This was immediately swept off the table. The second offer, which was increased by a fixed 10 million euros, was also rejected.
Bayern was not going to give up and representatives of the club arrived in London personally. Even this meeting did not lead to a successful conclusion. The amount offered and the amount demanded still differed significantly. However, the Germans did not lose optimism and continued to believe in the deal.
It could be said that Daniel Levy got them exactly where he wanted them to go with his negotiations. Thus, the German club offered a transfer amount of around 100 million euros. According to the latest reports, the two clubs have reached an agreement and now the decision is up to the goalscorer himself.
A certainty to win trophies or a chance to break the Premier League record for goals scored? That’s the dilemma Kane currently has to solve.
Meanwhile, a debate has started on Twitter as to what will actually be the better option for Kane. English sports journalist Henry Winter is of the opinion that the striker should take the offer and leave.
His scales tip the scales towards certain participation in the Champions League and the certainty of winning a trophy almost every season. “Records are good, but football is about glory and Kane can win trophies at Bayern. He is 30 years old. Now is the moment,” he wrote on Twitter.
“There is more talk about Alan Shearer’s record than his Premier League winners’ medal. The big plus of going to Bayern is the guarantee of the Champions League and the chance to win trophies every year, but it’s not about domestic trophies. They’re going to win them anyway. I’m sure he’d rather break the record than win the Bundesliga,” responded Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.
Kane is expected to make a decision on his future very soon. According to several sources, he himself has said that if he starts the year in a Tottenham jersey, he will not leave the club this year. Spurs’ season starts on Saturday.
