I’m supposed to lead the team, instead I threw sticks under his feet, commented Ondřej Kolář on the unlucky goal
Prague Slavia had an unfortunate evening on Wednesday night in Budapest. They lost 2:0 to Ferencváros, but it cannot be said that they were a worse team. It was decided by mistakes and (in)efficiency. What did Ondřej Kolář say after the game?
Prague Slavia had an unfortunate evening on Wednesday night in Budapest. They lost 2:0 to Ferencváros, but it cannot be said that they were a worse team. It was decided by mistakes and (in)efficiency. What did Ondřej Kolář say after the game?
On Wednesday evening, the players of Prague Slavia had a good dose of bad luck. They didn’t score a single goal from their chances and then gave both goals to their opponent more or less for free.
Ondřej Kolář knows about it, who took his dose of bad luck during the first goal of the opponent. Before the end of the first act, Taras Kacharaba’s pass went over his foot and the ball ended up in the net.
But the Slavia goalkeeper was not hiding behind anything. On the contrary. He manfully stood in front of the camera and showed a good amount of self-reflection.
“I did something stupid. The ball jumped over my foot and I put the opponent on his horse. We had been playing well up until then, we had pressure and some chances. But then people caught on and pushed them. We were unlucky, I’m really sorry,” Kolář said.
“I’m terribly sorry for the team. I should have led it and I threw sticks under its feet. I’m not going to make any excuses. I’m sorry,” he told O2 TV after the game.
Apart from that goal, Kolář also scored a penalty. He was on the wrong side of the ball, but he still didn’t reach the ball. Moments later, he made an important save against a solo effort by Nguyen.
This moment was important for him, because he had nothing to catch the whole game. However, it was also crucial for the team, Slavia will only make up the two-goal deficit, the next goal could be the final one.
