Slavia Prague challenged Feyenoord of the Netherlands in Thursday’s Europa League match. The match ended in a 2:2 draw, but everyone agrees that the Prague team should have brought the match to a successful conclusion. What is the reaction to this draw?
Unfortunately, the Sešiovans were not helped by the red card that referee Gestranius awarded to Guus Til in the thirty-sixth minute of the first half.
It must be noted, Feyenoord arrived in a truly excellent physical condition and throughout the game their players showed great activity and great play. The match ended in a 2-2 draw and the Prague team will have to fight for the next stage of the Conference Europa League.
“I have it in me, I score these goals. I always expect that the goalkeeper might drop the ball. I’m sorry it wasn’t the winning goal, because this is the kind of game we deserved to win. The scenery was great,” Kuchta said in a post-match interview.
He also added that the red card and the subsequent sending off of the Feyenoord midfielder gave the Slavs a big boost. According to him, they then had the match in their own hands and then failed to finish the game and provide the fans with the result they deserved.
His words were confirmed by defender Tomáš Holeš, who also noted that there were several moments in the match that could have been handled differently and better by the players of Slavia.
“I’m upset because we could have definitely won this match for three points. I wouldn’t have bothered about the goal situation, but we should have decided it earlier and played it more calmly. We let ourselves be pushed unnecessarily, the opponent put everything on one card. And in the last situation we didn’t keep it together, which is a mistake,” admitted Holeš in an interview immediately after the game.
So Slavia will have one more big battle ahead of them, on the ground of Union Berlin, where they will surely be a very unpleasant opponent. On the basis of his other words, the Susians are aware that Union is a really good team and they have to prepare for this match in the best possible way.
Lukáš Masopust sees the next match very clearly. The player, who has been wearing the jersey of Slavia Prague for the fourth season, said that the next match simply has to be a winnable one.
“I saw that they are maybe fifth in the league. They play Bundesliga. It would probably be death for us to play someone that strong to a draw. We will go there to win, to do our best and see what it takes,” Masopust said in an interview with Slavia TV.
