I’m gonna have to breathe this! Martinek knows the verdict of the protest after the KSW theft. I’ll be left with a scar on my heart, he says disappointedly
Friday was an interesting KSW tournament. Unfortunately, it left a very bad impression. Michal Martinek was robbed of his win. Neither the organization nor the Polish fans agreed with the result. A protest was immediately lodged. Now the result is known. And the Czech fighter doesn’t like it.
Michal Martinek was very close to a title fight in KSW. On Friday, a duel with Daniel Omielanczuk, a legend of the Polish fight scene and a 40-year-old fighter, could bring him even closer to it. But it didn’t happen.
The Czech fighter lost on points. And in a very undeserved way. He threw more punches, was more accurate, harder, moved better. When the fight was over, the winner was clear. But then the judges announced the result and the martial arts world was amazed.
Right after the tournament, the KSW management itself objected to the result. It decided to lodge a protest, refuse the judges to continue working in the organization and even paid Martinek’s protest in full. It was expected that the result might be reversed. But…
Martínek is angry with the result of the protest
When Omielanczuk was announced as the winner, Martínek took it hard. But he behaved like a professional and respects his opponent. And he respects him now that he knows the outcome of his protest.
“He says I won, but nothing will be changed because it would have to be proven that there was some intention to manipulate and that nothing will be changed on principle. I don’t know what to say to that. It was clear to me that there would be a lot of conflicts of interest,” the former Octagon champion expressed his disappointment on social media.
Martinek isn’t interested in a rematch. He says he doesn’t know why he has to prove anything again when he won according to the association, the owners, and most of the fans in the Polish scene. So if there is to be a second fight, it will have to be for the sake of the fight with regards to the rankings.
He congratulated Omielanczuk on his win, saying they both did the best they could. He is happy for the fight. “But this fight will leave a scar on my heart and will forever scar Sherdog and my ranking. But I guess that can happen considering I’m sitting here now reading thousands of messages from the entire scene in support of me. A big thank you to all the fans who are sticking by my side,” Martinek continued.
“I’m full of emotions and now I have to take it easy myself because it’s a big bite for me and I wouldn’t have expected something like this to happen to me in a fight this tough and closely watched in an international association that is broadcast in several countries around the world,” he added.
Martinek will now take a break from the media. He admitted he is extremely angry and doesn’t want to be rude.
