I’m certainly not surprised, Gerrard responded to the Spartan boos. Prague has a serious problem with racism, Kamara’s lawyer adds
Rangers footballers didn’t get a very warm welcome at Sparta. And no wonder. Czech fans still remember the incident from the Rangers – Slavia match and they made it clear during Thursday’s game. And the representatives of the Scottish club didn’t like it too much.
Rangers footballers did not get a very warm welcome at Sparta. And no wonder. Czech fans still remember the incident from the Rangers – Slavia match and they made it clear during Thursday’s game. And the representatives of the Scottish club didn’t like it too much.
Glen Kamara was the one who got the worst of the Rangers players. The Spartan kids in the stands booed him every time he touched the ball. But was it racist? No way.
But the Scottish club’s representatives interpreted it differently, seeing racism right behind all the reactions in the stands. “It ‘s extremely disappointing for me, but I’m certainly not surprised,” commented Rangers coach Steven Gerrard after the game.
Glen Kamara’s lawyer Aamer Anwar immediately responded. “Tonight showed once again that Prague has a serious problem with racism and as usual UEFA was nowhere to be found,” said Anwar.
Anwar is absolutely resigned to finding the cause of the Spartan fans’ reactions. These causes are in no way racist, skin colour plays no role here.
Kamara is simply a hated person in the Czech Republic, and this is in view of the post-match events of the Rangers – Slavia match.
The backdrop for the Europa League match between Sparta and Rangers was 11,000 Spartan children. Due to a UEFA penalty, no other Czech fans were allowed to attend the match. Nevertheless, the Spartan children created a great atmosphere.
