Cristiano Ronaldo received an incredible welcome at the Al-Nassr stadium. Crowds of fans came to welcome the new addition to the team and they filled the stadium. The Portuguese star was all smiles and enjoyed the great atmosphere.
The welcome was accompanied by fireworks. After the show, Ronaldo headed into the bowels of the stadium where he gave his first interview as a player for Al-Nassr.
“I am a special player. I broke all the records in Europe and I want to break a few here. This contract is unique because I am an exceptional player,” said Ronaldo about his new position.
I am very proud to have made this important decision. In Europe my job is over, I won everything. I played in the most important clubs. In Asia, a new challenge awaits me.”
The Portuguese further said that he had many offers from Europe, Brazil, USA and Australia. Portuguese teams were also interested in him, but he chose Saudi Arabia.
“I am grateful to the club for giving me the opportunity to participate in the development of football in this country among the younger generation and also among women. It is a challenge for me, but at the same time I feel happy and proud,” he continued in the interview.
Cristiano Ronaldo signed a contract with the team until 2025. He will earn 200 million euros a year, which translates to 4.8 billion crowns. This record amount certainly appealed to Ronaldo, but in the interview he said that money was not the main factor in the move for him.
Al-Nassr play in the top league in Saudi Arabia, which they last won in 2019. This year, however, they are still in first place with a one-point lead over Al-Shabab. Ronaldo could play his first game as early as Thursday, January 5 against Al Taee.
