Prague’s Sparta lost to Rapid Vienna 1::2 and bring an unflattering, but playable, result to the rematch. Ladislav Krejci Jr. was the only goal scorer for the Czech team and he had a few words for the club website after the game.
Sparta scored the only goal in the third minute when Ladislav Krejci Jr. scored after a beautiful centre by Bořek Dočkal.
In the second half, however, the Prague team stopped playing well and Rapid took advantage of this, scoring two goals to win 2-1.
Ladislav Krejčí Jr. mentioned in the interview a huge opportunity of Tomas Wiesner, who got through the defence and only hit the goalkeeper himself.
“I believe we would have won then. We have to take our chances, we are in a competition where there won’t be so many chances. If we want to succeed, we have to do better in the end,” he said.
The match was quite even, but Rapid was the main one determining the direction of the game. “They held the ball well and were strong in the offensive part. We knew that. They didn’t surprise us. It just proved it. We also showed at the end that we can play with them,” he added.
The return leg is next Wednesday, while Sparta host Olomouc’s Sigma at home in the first round of the Fortuna Liga.
