This year, Kristyna Pliskova is not doing well. This season she hasn’t been able to beat any opponent in the main stage of the tournament yet, she only reversed this unflattering record at Wimbledon. “If I don’t win, I’ll burn my racquets,” she told herself during the match.
Kristyna Pliskova was about to break her black streak against Danka Kovinic, but she got injured during the morning and Sharma came up against Pliskova.
“I found out twenty minutes before the match, which was not good. I was upset,” said Pliskova after the match.
She finally managed to overpower her, although the course of the match did not suggest much. Pliskova was down 0:1 in sets and 2:4 in the second and third sets, but she managed to turn the match around and advance to the second round.
“I told myself that I really have to win now, if I don’t win now I’ll just give a shit and burn the rackets,” said Pliskova during the match.
In the second round, Kristyna Pliskova was not so lucky, losing 0:2 to the top-seeded Pavlyuchenkova.
